For the past 25 years, I have been conducting research on the efficient treatment and disposal of sewage sludge and its effective utilization, including energy use. My research covers the processes of digestion, dewatering, drying, and incineration in sludge treatment. Recently, I have been developing a methane fermentation process with hydrogen addition based on the concept of Power to Gas, and investigating the greenhouse gas emissions from sludge treatment, especially the fossil carbon and microplastics contained in sludge.
