Katya is a nationally recognized leader in wastewater process modeling, nutrient removal, advanced control strategies, and machine learning. She has developed, calibrated, and utilized BioWin™ models for numerous wastewater facilities to optimize their performance, assess their ability to meet current and proposed nutrient limits, or to aid them in master planning by evaluating potential processes and technologies to meet tight future nutrient limits. Her experience also includes preliminary engineering reports, specialized wastewater process sampling, design of aeration systems, design of sidestream treatment processes including resource recovery, and alternatives evaluations. She is currently developing real-time process control capabilities for treatment operators by combining modeling and instrumentation.
